Blunt Punch

A Card Punch is a card marking device, that is used to place a small bump or "blister" onto the surface of a playing card, allowing the initiate to detect the card by means of touch.

The Blunt Punch, unlike the Pinpoint Pegger, doesn't use a pin to make the markings. Instead it uses a hard acrylic half bead. This produces a very different type of mark. It's larger and easier to feel (if you know it's there).

Use it alone or combined with the Pinpoint Pegger, both have different tactile feels, combine both types to produce unique ways to gather information.

Depth Control

Total control of the size of the "blister" is easy to achieve with the knurled screw and locking nut. No tools needed. The position of the blister is indicated with an inlaid brass dot on the top arm of the punch. A solid rubber base cushions & supports the blister as its made.

Back Stop & Side Fence

The back stop can slide along the main body of the pegger, and be locked in any position using the thumb screw. It remains independent of the punches’ “up and down” arm movement when creating a blister. Used in conjunction with the adjustable sprung side-fence, they determine the "x" & "y" position of the "blister" on the card.

Almost Invisible

Traditional positions for blisters on a card’s surface, can be controlled with or without the stop and side-fence. Even edge crimping can be achieved, simply by sliding the back stop forward & locking it in place using the thumb screw. Then adjusting the side fence to locate the desired lateral location of the blister, and also locking it in place using its sprung thumb screw.

Place a playing card into the punch & press.

Computer-aided Design

Computer-aided design was used to create and optimise the Blunt Punch. Designed with laser cut components & finished by hand. From the spring to the screws… everything is stainless steel or brass construction.

Designed symmetrically, with a reversible side fence, the Blunt Punch can be used in either hand.
